Mike Potts Studio

Mike Plott recently purchased and installed the Audioarts Air 2+ Plus Radio Console in his home studio.

"It has always been my dream to create the perfect home studio. Since the 60's I have been a radio fanatic and it was my love of radio that drove me to visit countless manned and automated radio stations over the years to learn more about the broadcast process. I was fascinated by the studio console more than any other piece of equipment- and although I never went into radio production (I must add that I did do television production though), I always considered myself a 'radio broadcast wannabe.'

I thought one day I 'll be able to have my own closed circuit 'radio station' spinning records and playing compact discs, entertaining myself at home as well as recording my programs onto CD to play in the car for posterity. After graduating from high school, I kept searching for boards and mixers that I could use in my 'mock' radio programs.  Either they were cost prohibitive (being the professional models) or they did not have the professional features of that of a radio station.

Then I noticed from various broadcast trade materials the Wheatstone and Audioarts audio consoles and said to myself, 'that's what I want -- I can afford something like those -- they are of professional quality, and they are Made In America!.'

So I started to do my homework on what could accommodate the eight CD player units, three reel-to-reel tape decks, two studio microphones, several monitor speakers, a DAT recorder, and other devices I had in my studio inventory. There were quite a few choices out there when it came to broadcast consoles but I kept my eyes focused on the Audioarts Air 2+ Plus.

The specs were impressive and it had all of the features (and more!!!) that I could use at the present time. Features such as the external start of the CD player units, the built-in cue speaker, control room monitor, control room mute/tally, VU meter pairs, etc. are what you would normally find on a console that cost a few thousand dollars more but the Air2+ console offered all these plus more at a fraction of the cost. I was sold on the Air2+ Plus' price tag.  One more thing that sold me --was the technical manual !!!.

I am content in what I have added to my studio equipment to date but there's one item that brings it all together -- the Audioarts Air2 + Plus console!   The support at Wheatstone/Audioarts is there, too. I am very proud of my console and now that I am retired I have more time to really enjoy it!"
